Mr. Koehler's representative matters have involved rate issues, long-term power purchase agreements for renewable energy, net metering and the siting and permitting of an array of different energy infrastructure facilities, including natural gas generating facilities, renewable energy projects, natural gas pipelines, electric transmission lines, substations and ancillary equipment.
Mr. Koehler has also represented project developers in judicial proceedings in state and federal courts regarding challenges to permits and approvals initiated by project opponents.
Before joining the firm in 2008, Mr. Koehler served as a law clerk for the Justices of the Superior Court of Massachusetts. Mr. Koehler is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and is an active member of the Boston Bar Association, where he has served as co-chair of the Energy and Telecommunications committee; a member of the BBA’s Environmental Sustainability Task Force; a member of the Education Committee; and a fellow of the BBA’s Public Interest Leadership Program.
Mr. Koehler received his Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School, cum laude, and his Masters in Public Administration from the Sawyer School of Management. At Suffolk, Mr. Koehler served as the Managing Editor of the Suffolk Journal of Trial and Appellate Advocacy. He also received a Rappaport Fellowship in Law and Public Policy that enabled him to work for the City of Boston’s Environmental and Energy Services Cabinet. Prior to law school, Mr. Koehler received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography and Environmental Studies from Middlebury College.
In addition to his professional pursuits, Mr. Koehler serves in various capacities as an alumni volunteer for Phillips Academy (Andover) and on the Board of Advisors for Thompson Island Outward Bound Education Center in Boston Harbor. He also enjoys coaching youth baseball and soccer.
